I remember seeing a video of Coheed playing, “In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3,” and Claudio had a shirt that had that (see above) phrase on it. I put it in my AIM profile immediately. What a time to be a live. We were young. We weren’t worried or anxious. We had friends and time to see them. We had smiles. We had late nights and truths and lies. We had cigarettes and kisses. We had high fives, windows down screaming, “Man Your Battle Stations!”
For a small amount of time, I think a collective weight was lifted off the shoulders of the packed MGM Music Hall. For a small amount of time during and explosive, vulnerable, and honest performance by Foxing, we were weightless.
For a moment a performance in front of me brought me back to a show across the street and many many years ago where I lost my shoe during the opening song of Taking Back Sunday, and found it again at the end of the night. A moment to remember mics aren’t always just for singing…
Remember hearing that opening riff to, “Welcome Home,” for their first time? Goosebumps. What about live? Speechless. A moment.
We’ll all sing together
From the first verse to the last word
Our voices will unify in harmony
Sing together
Tethered forever
