Deafheaven ignites another inferno; George Clarke’s vocals scorching over me, resembling a fallen angel sent to hell and the band marching behind him with their strings and percussive arsenal of weaponry all the way to the 9th circle. This tour’s live debut of Body Behavior was gifted to us on this night, an out-of-body experience for those of us who empathize with the song’s subject matter and the frontman’s vulnerability in sharing such a truth.
Shrouded in complete darkness, the band performed the harsh track titled Incidental II, which builds up for several minutes until both the song and the lights eventually burn bright red like a blistering, inflammatory side effect. Unforgettable.
All photographers present on this night were fed a liturgical feast, difficult for me to crawl away from by the end of the set, and these stills from the night are merely my feeble attempt at proving so.
