PALLBEARER with KNOLL @ THE PRESS ROOM - PORTSMOUTH, NH - 4.15.2026

The atmosphere was gloomy as I walked the block from my car to The Press Room. It had been raining and the streets were bare. The heaviness in the air outside was near suffocating once inside and upstairs. The lights were scarce, the crowd gradually filling up the balcony area and the floor from the stage to the back. Was the foreshadowing? Was it all a rouse?

It was NOT a rouse.

Tennesee Funeral Grind collective, KNOLL opened wounds of festering grizzle, pouring temple abuse, and horror and the overbearing feeling of dread one might experience watching the 1932 near silent film, Vampyr, by Carl Theodor Dreyer. Intense. But only the beginning.

KNOLL

PALLBEARER

The mighty and unrelenting Pallbearer, playing in total, Foundations Of Burden, shook the city of Portsmouth near into the ocean itself. Cavity pulling riffs and the densest smog could be seen and heard well past the spot where my car sat with its $50 ticket waiting for my slow and delirious return. Ears rang well before and after Pallbearer to the stage. The band itself is unstoppable. Time stops but Pallbearer doesn’t. The night spiraled into sweaty, murky, chaos, while the band tore through the album and my chest. I mean goddamn!

And in the immortal words of Paul Bearer, “Ohhh yes!”
